Light and Love Chapter 8

How to Pray the Immaculate Heart Rosary

Prayers for the Immaculate Heart Rosary

The Immaculate Heart Rosary

Begin by making the sign of the Cross: (Crucifix over the earth) -In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  “I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” Rev. 22:13. Through Mary to Jesus.  Amen.

Prayer to Immaculate Mater Domini:   (two hearts symbol)   August Queen Mother, Mater Domini, Immaculate Mediatrix of all graces; you are the undefiled Tabernacle of the Incarnate Word. You are the masterpiece of God’s creation, Oh, the Woman clothed with the sun, and the paragon of beauty. We glorify God for the ongoing triumph of your Immaculate Heart in the glorious reign of Jesus Christ in all things, all nations, cultures, families, and in human hearts. We humbly beseech you for the continuous expansion of His manifest reign in every heart.  Mother of Divine Love, use me as a little servant to expand the Kingdom of your Son. Immaculate Mater Domini, implore the Holy Spirit, your Divine Spouse, to instill the love of God and the Word of God within me, so that I spread the love of God and the Word of God in all I meet. We pray that in all nations and in every heart you receive the honor due to you, and St. Joseph. We make our prayers through Christ our Lord and King. Amen

Then recite the Creed:  (Two heart symbol)I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen

Then say 1 "Our Father” on the 8 pointed star symbol,       3 "Hail Mary's" for the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity on the 3 blue beads followed by 1 "Glory Be".

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Each decade-has 12 beads. There are five different mysteries. One should meditate on Jesus’ life for each mystery-decade.

1 "Our Father"- on (Word of God symbol) then 12 "Hail Mary's" on the blue beads followed by 1 "Glory Be".

First Decade: The Nativity of the Lord Jesus

Meditation: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph. Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea.. Wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born king of the Jews?  ‘For we saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him.” Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 2.2 Luke 1:26

Second Decade: Institution of the Holy Eucharist

Meditation: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh. Jesus took bread…and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body.’ And He took a cup…saying, ‘Drink of it, all of you, for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many (all) for the forgiveness of sins” John 6:51 Matthew 26

Third Decade: Death of Jesus on the Cross

Meditation: “For He shall save His people from their sins. He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.” Isaiah 53:5

Fourth Decade: Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Meditation: “Jesus answered them, ‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.’ On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb…They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them…said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.’” John2:19

Fifth Decade: Descent of the Holy Spirit

Meditation: “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me. When the day of Pentecost arrived…And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind…And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. John 15:26

After the completion of the five mysteries (5 decades), the "Hail Holy Queen" is said:

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.  That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen

End by making the sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. “I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” Rev. 22:13. Through Mary to Jesus.  Amen.

Ave Maris Stella is a popular liturgical hymn of unknown origin. It can be dated back to at least the 9th century for it is preserved in the Codex Sangallensis, a 9th century manuscript now in the Swiss Monastery of St. Gallen.
